One of the most successful forms of business is franchising because they have a real system for getting and keeping customers. These are real customers who continue to come back and spend their money over and over.  This gives the franchise good cash flow which in turn helps them produce a profit in which they can grow their business even more.  The key are the customers.  This is the key to any business whether it’s traditional business, a new business or online business.

Compare this to almost all of the home businesses in which it’s a “distributor” model (or called associates, partners, members, whatever you want to call them). With these home businesses which are usually classified as a direct selling company, network marketing or MLM (multi-level marketing), they have mostly distributors.  These are people who are buying the product or service mainly because they want to make money.  When they don’t make money, then they usually quit buying and then quit the business altogether.  Then the people who were making a little money make less and the people on top making good money start seeing their commissions decrease.  This is because there are usually very few real customers.

How many CUSTOMERS do you have in your business? This is a very important question because customers are really the engine that drives a business.  Customers will continue to buy your product or service when they receive good service and the results they are looking for.  Many people incorrectly think that if they have a business with a bunch of distributors or affiliates that they have a real business…. WRONG.  If you have a networking style or home business with hundreds or even thousands of distributors but few customers then you don’t really have a business.  In sports terminology you have “no game”.  Check out my new YouTube post about customers.

For a lot of home businesses, there might be one customer for every 10-100 distributors. This is a crazy ratio (10:1 or worse) which is doomed to FAIL.  For my TriVita Nopalea business, I have approximately 2,000 affiliates and over 50,000 customers.  This is a 1:25 ratio of affiliates to customers which makes for a very stable and profitable business.

So when you look at that “new deal” that just started a few months ago, first of all it’s got a 99% chance of failure since 99 out of 100 new businesses that are less than a year old will fail. Your odds that the company will be in a business and paying in 2011 and beyond is less than 1%.  But even IF it does succeed, and that’s a BIG “if”…. but if it is not a customer based model in which you have MORE customers than distributors, associates, affiliates, partners (call them whatever you want), then your business is in bad shape.  Here’s what I have seen happen over and over…  The people that join as a distributor and who aren’t making money will quit.  When that happens then the people who are making a little money will no longer be making money and they’ll quit.  Then the higher level people who were making good money see their pay and commissions decrease.  When some of the distributors aren’t making money, a business can and will dry up and go away.  Click this LINK to listen to my team call today in which we had callers from all over the world.  You’ll even hear from a guy who lives from Australia that called in and spoke!

This is why TriVita is the #1 top business available, bar none, in my opinion.  And definitely forget the “Johnny Come Lately” new deal that just started in 2009 or 2010.  Why would you take a gamble on a new deal with 100 to 1 odds against you that the company will even be in business in the near future?  I am referring to all of those new energy drink, juice, grocery discount, matrix, binary, make-up companies that keep popping up, cost $500 or more to join, and then crash and burn sooner or later.  I have seen it happen over and over again.

Do you get phone calls from some of the same people who are now trying to get you to join their new deal even though they have already “hit you up” (recruited you) for something else in the past?!  These are good people to RUN FROM as fast as you can.  But that’s for another blog post.  So to recap….
